Sulfacan, is the current treatment of choice in acne. Sulfur increases its therapeutic efficacy. Sulfur being a keratolytic and anti-bacterial agent, is able to penetrate the epidermis and concentrate itself in the undischarged effectiveness of the product.

Sulfacan should be thinly and evenly applied to the affected area two or three times a day with a gentle rub.

Hypersensitivity to precipitated sulfur 2. Eczema and seborrhoeic dermatitis affecting the face.

If severe irritation develops, use of Sulfacan Cream should be discontinued and appropriate therapy instituted. After the reaction clears, treatment may often be resumed with less frequent applications. Sulfacan Cream Should not be used in or near the eyes lead to increased incidence of contact sensitivity. Sulfacan can cause dermatitis in persons with an allergic background.

Some degree of dryness of skin, erythema and irritation are normally encountered with all topical acne preparations. This may be part of their mechanism of action. However, the duration and frequency and vigorous scrubbing will have to be adjusted according to the patient’s tolerance. No lasting effects on the skin have been come across and the local irritant action wears off after a few days of discontinuation of treatment. There are no systemic side effects. Hypersensitivity to sulfur can occur occasionally and this precludes further use of the drug. Contact allergy to Sulfur can also occur in about 1-2% of patients who should not use this preparation. The nature of the side effect should be discussed with the doctor to differentiate usual irritation from hypersensitivity and contact allergy.

Convulsions, increased intracranial pressures, and toxic psychosis have been reported in patients receiving drugs in this class. Quinolones may also cause central nervous system stimulation which may lead to tremors, restlessness, lightheadedness, confusion and hallucinations. If these reactions occur in patients receiving Ciprofloxacin, the drug should be discontinued and appropriate measures instituted. As it is with all quinolones, Ciprofloxacin should be used with caution in patients with known or suspected CNS disorders, such as severe cerebral arteriosclerosis, epilepsy, and other factors that predispose to seizures.
