Each capsule contains: Amoxicillin Trihydrate BP equivalent to Amoxicillin 250mg. It is indicated for a wide range of infections caused by sensitive strains of gram-positive and /or gram-negative organisms such as- 1- Upper respiratory infections such as sinusitis, otitis media. 2- Lower respiratory infections such as bronchitis, pneumonia, pulmonary abscess. 3- Urogenital tract infections like pyelonephritis, pyelitis, cystitis, urethritis, prostatitis, epididymitis. 4- Gonorrhoea. 5- Skin and soft tissue infections. 6- Acute febrile infections of the GIT like typhoid fever, paratyphoid fever. 7- Infections of the biliary tract like cholangitis, cholecystitis. 8- Gynaecological infections like septic abortion, adenexitis, endometritis.

Vitamox - 250

Amoxicillin is a broad-spectrum penicillin with anti-bacterial activity. Amoxicillin acts through the inhibition of biosynthesis of cell wall mucopeptide. Amoxicillin is stable in presence of gastric acid and may be given without regard to meals. It is rapidly absorbed after oral administration. The half-life of Amoxicillin is 1 hour. Most of the Amoxicillin is excreted unchanged in the urine: Its excretion can be delayed by concurrent administration of probenecid. Amoxicillin is not highly protein bound.

Adults Dose 250mg-500mg Amoxycillin to be taken every 8 hrs depending on severity of the infection with or without meals.
Children below 12 yrs 125mg to 250mg every 8 hrs with or without meals as prescribed by the physician.

Amoxicillin is a penicillin and should not be given to penicillin-hypersensitive patients. It is not indicated for the treatment of infections caused by penicillin resistant Staphylococci.

Liver function tests are advisable during long-term therapy with high doses and urine analysis and renal function tests in preexistent renal insufficiency or if cutaneous infections develop. Checks on the blood count are indicated to detect any antibody-induced reactions of the haematopoietic system and particularly haemolytic anaemia.The possibility of superinfections with mycotic or bacterial pathogens should be kept in mind during therapy. If superinfections occur (usually involving Enterobacter, Pseudomonas and Candida), the drug should be discontinued or appropriate therapy Instituted. ‘Diarrhoema’ to read ‘diarrhoea’ nausea, vomiting and diarrhoema may occur. Hypersensitivity reactions like Erythematous maculopapular rashes erythema multiforme. StevensJohnson Syndrome and urticaria have been reported. Anaemia, thrombocytopenia, thrombocytopenic purpura, Eosinophilia and agranulocytosis have been reported during therapy with penicillins.

An adequate intake of fluid and an adequate urinary output should be guaranteed during treatment.

Store in a cool dry place below 30oC . Keep all medicines away from the reach of children.
